You’re welcome, Sarah

November 11th, 2008 . by Marty

For all you fellow travelers spewing such venom in my direction, bite on this for a moment. Before I announced that I was the source for the Palin/Africa story, everyone, without exception, believed it to be true. The only question was who leaked it. Now, as a result of me outing myself, there is doubt about even the original allegations. A smell of fishiness has crept into the whole story. And MSNBC is finally being called out for its rampant biases and sloppy journalism. I believe that’s what they call “taking one for the team”.

    Martin,

Please provide proof that you are a McCain advisor, and that you have briefed Sarah Palin on the various things that you claim.

As you know, you have been described as a hoaxer at TNR and Ace of Spades HQ.

Please furnish proof of your allegations.

How can these dopes (trentk269 for instance) miss the whole point?
This has been the funniest thing since I got the substitute teacher to read Mike Hunt’s name for attendance in high school.
    Keep up the good work.

Keep up the good work, Marty. It strikes me that candidate McCain has himself made some errors of geographic and ethnic identification in the past. So I am certain that you were a big help in keeping the old man on the right track as well as his potential VP.

Hey, you made Faux news again! I can’t tell you how proud I am of you. Keep up the great work!

So what you are telling us is the McCain campaign tried to pull a fast-one over on the American people?

Seriously, what were they thinking by knowingly putting an inept candidate on the ticket with McCain? Yes, she is an attractive woman but the Presidency and VP is not simply a beauty contest!

And to think that this side-show managed to win many states. Who voted for this odd-couple? What a disaster we managed to avoid on Nov 4th.

The press can be had by hyperlink hijinks and youtube tomfoolery as easily as Palin and her staff were had by the Masked Avengers.

I disagree somewhat regarding MSNBC. I don’t disagree in terms of its sloppy journalism, which pervades every channel, but rather that any cable outlet is under obligation to keep its programming politically neutral. The desirability of this — and the possibility of its realization — are separate questions. The problem arises in the almost total amalgamation of hard news with editorial commentary, such that the ability of the viewer to ascertain the difference is all but lost in the popular media. This trend goes hand in hand with the increasing influence of the internet. And the relationship is complex (as you provide amusing cases in point). Unfortunately, the journalistic standards for infotainment and junk food news is fast becoming the norm for mainstream cable television.

    Marty Eisenstadt is smart.

    I am dumb.

I fell for his hoax without reading his other blog posts!

You don’t need proof that Marty is a hoaxster.

Just read his other blog entries. There is no way this guy is a campaign staffer.

And “Marty” — or whatever your name is — many of us knew the “leaked” story about Palin not knowing Africa or NAFTA was a pile of horse hockey even before you spoofed it.

Congrats for making thousands of bloggers and would-be journalists look like fools.

You are no mcCain advisor and you are no Republican.

You are a Democratic operative buddy.

Your disgusting youtube video implyimg that McCain and Michelle Malkin had a tryst was a dead give away that you are a card carrying member of the Far Left.

  12. comment number 12 by: Bud

I bet you were behind those McCain girls also.

  13. comment number 13 by: Emmie859

Nobody believed it to be true. It was too ridiculous to be true. Only idiots, like Obamabots who don’t have brains to think with would think it was true simply because they believe anything. If all your friends believed it was true, then that says something about what you and your friends are.

  14. comment number 14 by: Bud

    Hey Emmie859:

You better call Fox News and inform Carl Cameron, he’s the one who adbvanced the story on Bill O’Reilly’s show.

  15. comment number 15 by: Andrew

Lee Atwater would be so proud, think he’d found his soul mate. Only, you all don’t seem to be playing for the same team as he did. I can’t say I’m sorry to see Republicans as the beneficiaries of this kind of misinformation campaign because usually they’re the ones doing it, a little taste of their own medicine…

The only two more inept candidates (one who thinks President Franklin Roosevelt addressed the nation on TV in 1929; the other who thinks Nancy Reagan, rather than Hillary Clinton, has talked to the dead) were those on the winning Democrat ticket.

Guess what, Marty? You’re biased too.

In order to make a point, you trashed Palin- get a life! Of course you didn’t care about slander - you (the people behind you) are probably Democrats. If this was a country with better slander laws, I’d say she should sue you - as it is, I hope everyone recognizes you guys as a pair of biased idiots.

  18. comment number 18 by: Jo

Sorry, guys, the damage is done. Once the press have decided upon a label for you, you can’t change it…

And Eisenstadt’s just given Palin a label: called dumb by her so-called ‘own party’.

    Obamabots unite!

  19. comment number 19 by: MaxFlash

I love it when wing-nuts shake with feigned outrage. Imagine, falsely attacking someone! You know, like swift-boating. Or linking an amputee veteran Georgia Senator to bin Laden! Democrats are so awful!

Here’s something to roll around in your right-wing heads: Why were the spoof allegations about Palin so believable?

  20. comment number 20 by: WB

The best thing to come out of this, regardless of what side anybody’s on is that the veracity of the internet is being further challenged.

  21. comment number 21 by: Pedro

Are you Republicans truly so terminally tarded? The comments made about Palin didn’t come from the Eisenstadt character; he merely claimed credit for them. This is not a subtle distinction, anyone with common sense should be able to appreciate it.

  22. […] This story gets even more complicated. A “Martin Eisenstadt” claimed that he was the source of the story about Palin not knowing Africa is a continent. […]

  23. comment number 23 by: The OriginalCC

This is truly a great spoof. I am reading a spoof as great as Borat. The better part is the idiots like MSNBC would report of “news” information they got from a blog.
The ignorance and gullibility of the left is unbelievable…

ROFL!! Great stuff! And to all you repuglick-uns… Just think of it as payback for your having introduced the verb phrase “to swift-boat” into the American lexicon.

  27. comment number 27 by: Obama

Thanks for all you help on the campaign! It was you and thousands like you who kept the truth hidden under a blanket of lies that has brought change to washington. With you and all those like you we will finally bring government control err.. help to everyone in the is messed up…err..Great country of ours!

Palin is a National PUNCHLINE - Thanks to you clowns!! She cant even get elected village idiot at this point!

  29. comment number 29 by: Tanya A

The funny thing is those conversations occured about NAFTA, AFRICA, etc. because Palin has repeated it over and over again in her many recent interviews.

Palin must have really pissed someone off.

Ha ha! Martin you pwned the news media! Everyone knows that the dinosaur news media will never change. They are just going to keep getting pwned by people like you until no one can trust their reporting anymore and they go extinct.

  33. comment number 33 by: Sarah the Palin

KUDOS to Fox News for maintaining its journalistic integrity. When former McCain advisor Martin Eisentadt tried taking credit for the ‘ContinentGate’ leak, MSNBC reported the story before fully vetting the facts. Fox News could have let Eisenstadt be the fall guy, but Carl Cameron is sticking to his guns, is protecting his sources, and is standing by the original story.

As a former journalist, I, Sarah Palin, feel that MSNBC must be held accountable for this kind of shoddy, drive-by reporting. MSNBC has a responsibility to inform the American people, and it is important that they not engage in these kind of smear tactics and character disparagment. That’s the kind of divisive politics that is so hurtful to our nation. We need to progress this great nation that we all cherish, not undermine it by misrepresenting the truth about our dedicated, hard-working public officials.

The true sources of the leaks have yet to be discovered, but when they are, Joe the Plumber will fix them, and we will make them famous.

The fact is that I, Sarah Palin, did not know that the NAFTA is a trade agreement between our country and Canada and also Mexico. And also, I didn’t know that Africa is a continent and not a country. In fact, I kinda still don’t.

Now, let me just say here that running for Vice President has humbled me greatly. I now know just exactly what it is that the VP does every day: deal with complicated things of which I know very little. That is why I am going back to Alaska, where my talents as a Governor and a hockey mom will be more fully appreciated.

While Eisenstadt won’t work on any of my future campaigns, I sure hope that I don’t have to run against the next person who hires him.
